In Jesus Name. Amen!

Side by side in a country plot;
On a sunny hillside far away
Where the flowers bloom in the meadow gay,
Close by their burial lot.
Sleeping in peace,
Awaiting the dawn of the day when God calleth His children home.
Father and mother sleeping today,
Cares and trials all past,
Awaiting the call of the judgment day
To gather them home at last;
Wrapped in the infinite love of God
Sleeping, yes sleeping, under the sod.
Angels guarding their narrow home
Know not the day when their Lord shall come,
Yet a life of duty and service given
Truly secures them a home in heaven.
May I be sure that same home to gain,
Then in God's mercy meet them again.

Eritrea Institute of Technology is a deemed technology University in Eritrea, North East Africa. It is a huge residential student campus presently housing over 10000 students who are later selectively branched out to other institutes offering other educational streams of study. The EIT offers a four year course for Business and Arts stream and Five year course for Engineering stream. At EIT the English Language Teaching is based on Student Centered Interactive Pedagogy which is offered for the first year students. The course for the first year is ELT (English Language Teaching) and for the final year students is based on ESP (English for Special Purpose). Along with the regular teaching responsibilities I was also responsible for the curriculum development for Business and Arts Group and ESP curriculum for the Engineering Group.
I had the opportunity to alter my research project PSMT ( Personalised System of Instruction and Micro Teaching)to close the gap between the learners. As the classroom environ had students who came direct from the field ie Young Army Recruits (after a study gap of 08 years) and students from the secondary schools. The emergent situation needed a teaching pedagogy flexible enough to minimize the expanding learning curve . Hence a need based curriculum was developed with PSMT.
During my stint at EIT I could manage to write research papers on “Achieving Global Competitive Advantage: The Language as a Source” and “Ethical Concerns and Global Competitive Advantage: Mapping the Geography of the Interfaces”. These papers were presented in absentia at International Conference on ‘Creating Global Competitive Advantage’ at Udaipur, India. Aug. 2004. I had the opportunity to work on the MoE, Asmara ambitious educational project to start Multidisciplinary Institutes and Universities based on the demand of the government ministries and supply of the educational institutes. My Poems and Articles have also been published in the Eritrean Profile (The sole English Newspaper).
This foreign experience has helped me to transcend and touch cross-cultural barriers by moulding English language to the urgent needs of the learner.
